Yui...

YUI is a rather new Japanese musical artist (she just had her first "anniversary" back in February) who composes beautiful music with her acoustic guitar. She was born on March 26, 1987 in Fukoka, a major city in southern Japan. She did not really consider music until the age of 16, when, after the encouragement of a friend and a lot of thought, she enrolled in a guitar cram school in Fukoka, where she learned how to play and compose music.

YUI's career in music can be said to have started in March 2003, when YUI performed at an audition
for Sony Music Japan, where she played three songs for the audience: Why me, It's happy line, and I know. This was a surprise in and of itself, because the audition allowed for only two songs to be performed by each entree. YUI only played three songs because the audience demanded it after hearing her first two. Needless to say, she was given the highest marks by the audition's judges, after which various record labels scrambled to sign on with her. Eventually YUI released her "first" single, an limited release independent single tied with Leaflet Records, "It's happy line." All the copies of the single have sold out.
